VILLA HAZIRAN, Kalkan, Turkey
This is a luxury villa which was finished in March 2007. It is in Kalamar Bay, to the West of Kalkan and is built on the hillside with stunning views across the bay to Mouse and Snake islands.
All the floors, inside and out, are tiled with Marble/Travertine. The air conditioning, hotel-style hairdryers, deluxe Memory- foam mattresses and door screens are provided in all the bedrooms for your extra comfort.

And this is the lovely Ali who will meet and greet you at Villa Haziran; he will take care of you, the pool and the garden. He will answer any questions, arrange taxis, gullet (boat) day cruises, offer local knowledge and generally help you with anything you need. (Don’t take him home!) He will also have put a welcome pack in the villa for your arrival. This will include a much needed bottle of wine which you may need after your long journey (especially if you arrive late) Also tea, coffee,OJ, milk, water, etc. and fresh bread, butter and jams. He also runs the water sports club down at The Kalamar beach club and so is able to book water skiing, jet skis, wake boarding, ringos and banana boat rides etc.

A little bit about Kalkan.
Kalkan is a small fishing port on The Turquoise Coast in South West Turkey. It is slotted between the folds of the Taurus Mountains behind and the glistening Mediterranean to the front. Now a sophisticated village more suited to those appreciating the good things in life and wanting ‘just a little bit more’! There are higgledy-piggledy little streets and alleyways that run down to the harbour, traffic free, with Art Galleries, Kilim Stores, an array of Curio and Antique Shops and fashion boutiques. There are lovely old balconied houses covered in Bougainvillea dotted around, many of these now converted into Boutique hotels. Every Thursday there is a very good open market (quite large) selling all sorts of ‘designer’ (!) goods, but also fabulous herbs and spices, fresh fruit and vegetables, and why not try one of the spinach and cheese pancakes or a Borek made on the spot by ladies wearing traditional clothing and covered heads. (Not for effect or tourism, but, because that is what they wear.)

The picturesque harbour above is full of local fishing boats and Gullets, these are the beautiful romantic wooden yachts that transport you to a world of hidden sandy coves and quiet little turquoise bays to have a gentle swim followed by a delicious simple Turkish lunch on board with local wine.
If the village is sophisticated so are the restaurants. Fabulous restaurants, usually high on the roof-tops, enabling one to watch the sun set over the Islands in the bay. Chefs from all over Turkey and the World have settled here to bring the huge variety of Turkish, Mediterranean and New World food to this stunning little haven. Some of the restaurants have live Turkish music or small jazz bands. During the evening and many times a day, the eerie sounds of the call to prayer from the Mosques can be heard. Click on www.kalkanturkey.com to see lots of photos and information.
BEACHES
The Kalamar Bay beach club is a 5 minute walk from the Villa (all downhill!). For those of you too lazy to walk they will collect you from the villa and drop you back in the evening (or whenever you are fed-up with another day in paradise!). Here you will find sun beds, parasols, pedalos, canoes, a huge water-trampoline and a lovely restaurant. For those that like a bit more action, there are jet skis, water skiing, ringos and banana boats. The other very nice beach club in Kalamar Bay is at the Kulube Hotel.here are plenty of beach clubs in Kalkan but we can particularly recommend The Caretta-Caretta Beach Club. (Tel 0090 242 844 34 35 - phone them for complimentary taxi), out past Kalkan harbour and the Yali Beach Club. They will take you home when you are ready (which is when you have finished your glass of Turkish tea!)This one is more rustic, with delicious traditional Turkish cuisine cooked by ‘Mama’ and served by Berna, her daughter-in-law. There are quite a few steps and sometimes a bit of a swell, but it is very peaceful there with the sound of lapping waves as opposed to non- stop music. There are also lots of yachts, gullets and fishing boats to watch entering and leaving the port of Kalkan. The other Kalkan beach clubs are reached by complimentary speed boats which leave frequently from Kalkan Harbour. If more contemporary is your bag, then head out to the Palm Beach club – very smart! The Mahale is also very good. These 2 beach clubs can be reached by taking the complimentary boats from the harbour.

This is Kaputas Beach, on the road to Kas, a lovely sandy beach approached by a 216 step descent! There is a regular ‘Dolmus’ from Kalkan to Kaputas during the summer. (No restaurant or refreshments here)
Patara Beach (voted the best beach in the world by The Sunday Times) is a beautiful 18 km white sandy beach, with parasols & Sun beds for hire and a small snack-type restaurant/cafe. A Dolmus takes you there, passing, on the way, some fantastic architectural sites, an amphitheatre, ruins and monuments.
Kas is a lovely small town, 25 kms up the coast, take the Dolmus from the town centre, it is probably one of the most spectacular coast roads in the world, with stunning island views all the way. (My personal opinion!)
DIVING IN KALKAN
